KOLO FOUNDATION - Working for sustainable future

KOLO Charitable Foundation was established in 2013 and has been implementing large-scale medical, educational and cultural projects for more than 10 years.

Why were these areas chosen? We believe that human life is impossible to imagine without quality medical care, education and cultural development. During the existence of the fund more than 30 units of modern equipment were transferred to medical institutions in 17 regions of Ukraine, joint projects were implemented with EVA chain store, IT company Luxoft, Coca-Cola Beverages Ukraine, Darina Zholdak Foundation, GS "Osvitoria" and the national scout organization of Ukraine "PLAST".
“KOLO” Charity Found has a cultural grant’s history, received grants from both Ukrainian donors, the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation (public funding) and international donors - IWCK (over 4 years of stable co-financed projects), in 2021 received a grant for 2 million UAH from the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine.

OUR HISTORY

Since 2008, the KOLO community has been operating as a public and volunteer association of like-minded people. This became the basis for the foundation of the charitable organization  "KOLO Charitable Foundation" in 2013.

By February 24, the community and the foundation had implemented more than 500 projects and public initiatives in the field of education, culture and medicine. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the volunteer network and the KOLO Charitable Foundation have focused their activities on helping the state in the most important areas: humanitarian, medical, transport and evacuation.   
Over the past 18 months, the following charitable projects have been implemented in these areas.

Areas of focus 2022-2023:
Cars and special vehicles for specialized services (Ministry of Emergencies, firefighters, ambulances, etc.)

Thanks to foreign partners and donors of the KOLO Charitable Foundation, as well as the activity of volunteer centers, we have purchased, repaired and transferred 103 pickup trucks, 7 buses, 14 trucks, 10 minibuses, 63 ambulances, 4 evacuation vehicles.

Areas of focus 2022-2023:
Humanitarian aid

With the help of partners from Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Poland, Germany and the Lviv Regional Military Administration, more than 1,500 tons of humanitarian aid was delivered to shelters in Bucha, Irpin, Kharkiv, Mariupol, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Pokrovsk, Lysychansk, Sievierodonetsk, Izium, Lozova, Kostiantynivka, Bakhmut and Trostianets.

Areas of focus 2022-2023:
Evacuation

Since the beginning of the war, KOLO and its partners have evacuated 2000+ women and children from Kyiv and 500+ from Mariupol to Western Ukraine.  1500 children were evacuated to Turkey.
500 children were taken to safe areas from Odesa and 200 from Mykolaiv.

UN support

According to the memorandum of cooperation between the
KOLO Foundation and Team4UA, the KOLO Foundation distributes food packages provided by the World Food Program, a UN agency. The sets were distributed through 4 partner hubs of the KOLO Foundation - Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa and Mykolaiv. Most of them were sent to small towns and villages in Donetsk, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia regions - such as Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Chasiv Yar, Dobropillia, Kostiantynivka, Dobropillia, etc.
More than 60,000 sets were distributed as part of the Team4UA program.

Areas of focus 2022-2023:
Medical support

In the medical area, more than 100 projects have been implemented, including the provision of more than 1600 units of medical equipment for mobile evacuation, blood transfusion stations, patient monitors, defibrillators, epidural anesthesia kits, NPWT Vac Therapy kits with consumables, Dibucell Active 10*10 dressings, ventilators, Doppler, external fixation systems, and more.
We have sent 60 tons of medicines, instruments and medical supplies to hospitals and military units (wheelchairs, crutches, syringes, threads, suture material, bandages and sponges for quick wound healing, disposable gloves, masks, gowns, medicines and antibiotics).
Currently, over 50 military units and more than 90 hospitals are on the list of recipients of the medical aid.
Separately, 2 crucial projects are being implemented in the medical area: "Mobile Evacuation" for the wounded and mobile medicine for the de-occupied territories "Medical Desant", which has already made 11 medical visits and conducted 5000 appointments.

Medical support
The U+ infrastructure project continues and develops the medical area.

A joint R&D center was created at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute with the support of the Sikorsky Challenge. Training programs in prosthetics and rehabilitation will start in September-October. Work has also begun on the U+ center: a center for the recovery of war victims. Construction of the center in a recreational area (Bucha).

CULTURAL and EDUCATION projects

The main focus of the activity until the 2022 year  was cultural initiatives aimed at the development of children's and youth creativity, education and promotion of real Ukrainian culture.
The Foundation has created long-term cultural projects, such as the BookBus (Книжкобус) - a bus with books.

Know Your Ukraine (Знай Свою Україну) is a joint project with UKF and EDEra to create media content for children to study true Ukrainian traditions.

European grants 22-23 years

In December 2022, we received funding from the European network EUNIC (as a part of Culture of Solidarity Fund) to create a platform website and conduct an information campaign during January-June 2023. https://www.cultucrania.org/
In January 2023, we received a second grant from the Polytechnic University of Valencia of the Vice-Rectorate for Arts and Social Sciences to hold a joint Ukrainian-Spanish residence for young Ukrainian and Spanish artists!

In June 2023, the KOLO Foundation and the CultUcrania platform were accepted into the Incubator+ project from the ENCC.EU network of European cultural centers to develop the Renaissance Festival and receive funding for 2024.
